FFS are back for a second year and what an improvement they have made, the difference is night and day and this means a lot of new players have been attracted to the game, so for those new to Scottish football or fantasy football here is an easy guide to help you top your mini-league.
Tips
I'll run through some tips for those new to fantasy football
1. Defensive Midfielders don't get rewarded, points are only awarded for goals, assists and clean sheets.
2. Go for set-piece takers, especially those taking penalties.
3. Save your triple captain chip for a double gameweek, 3 fixtures have already been postponed for the Scottish Cup so look out for when they get rearranged.
4. Make sure your bench players get gametime, there is nothing worse than when the team news is released and some of your players have been rested, it will always help to have a strong set of reserves.
5. Try to avoid put a midfielder as your Vice-Captain, the VC is used differently to FPL, in FFS they get double points on goals for midfielders and attackers and clean sheets for defenders and keepers, so opting for a goakeeper, defender or attacker is a much safer bet.
6. Use as many of the 3 players for Celtic and Rangers as possible, the sides are miles above the rest.
Players To Own
Here is a handy list of players you should want to try to fit into your side
Odsonne Edouard - £8.5 Million - FOR - the joint most expensive player in the game was last season's top scorer and seems destined to win the golden boot again.
Lawrence Shankland - £6.0M - FOR - Dundee United's season relies on him being able to score goals and with his 48 league goals in the last two seasons, surely the goals will continue to flow.
Liam Donnelly - £3.1M - DEF - Donnelly is out of position, the game lists him as a defender, despite playing in midfield last season, he also netted 7 goals in the campaign for a Motherwell team that were well disciplined at the back.
Mohamed Elyounoussi -£4.9M - MID - The man on-loan from Southampton got 4 goals and 2 assists in 10 league games last season and will be looking to be make a bigger impact this campaign, and being priced that cheaply he is a must have.
James Tavernier - £5.5M - DEF - Being a defender on penalties is a great asset. Even better with the rate than Rangers get them.
Scott Bain - £3.0M - GK - Stacking up on Old Firm defenders and goalkeepers is always a good option. Bain, who is currently the No. 1 is 0.5 million cheaper than Lewis or McGregor, allows for extra funds to be used else where in the side, which is always a bonus. However, Celtic are in the market for another keeper, so make sure you keep a transfer handy.
Borna Barisic - £4.2M - DEF - If you don't have the budget for Tavernier then Barisic is a great back-up option especially knowing how deadly he is from free-kicks.
Scott Tanser - £2.4M - DEF - Another defender on penalties, plus being on free kicks could result in a large haul one week.
Robbie McCrorie - £2.2M - GK & Efe Ambrose - £2.9M - DEF - These two are keys to the consistent back-line Livi had last year, and for a combined £5.1 million it has to be the best value pairing you can have.
Christian Doidge - £5.8 - FOR - It took Doidge a while to get going last year, but when he did, he burst onto the scene, finishing with 12 goals, and with Kevin Nisbet to work alongside him this season, will we this tally grow this season?
Players To Avoid
Leigh Griffiths - £6.0M - FOR - Griffiths has reportedly had a fall out with Lennon over his conditioning and with praise being heaped on Patryk Klimala it seems that the Scot will be struggling for gametime. He is one to keep an eye on however, if he is sent out on loan.
Drey Wright - £4.4M - MID - 2 goal contributions during his two years at St. Johnstone should be more than enough to put you off. Wright lacked quality in his final ball and would always make the wrong decision in the final third.
Christopher Julien - £5.5M - DEF - Julien just doesn't justify such a high price tag, if you want a Celtic defender then players like Ajer and Frimpong are better options giving you more than a million to spend upgrading the rest of your side.
Alfredo Morelos - £8.5M - FOR - There is a lot of rumours to suggest than Morelos will be on the way to Lille, in which case not having to waste a transfer taking him out of your side is a big bonus. However, if he stays rotating between him and Edouard would be a good option.
Callum Butcher - £3.5M - MID - In the friendly against Kilmarnock, Butcher played at centre half to try and find a solution to United's weak defensive line. If he continues in defence it will nullify any attacking contributions and heavily restrict his clean sheet points, if you for some reason want a second DUFC player for this money opt for Louis Appere.
Liam Craig - £4.2 - MID - Even with St. Johnstone's lack of midfield depth Craig's playing time will be limited. The veteran midfielder is getting up in age and is dropping further back the park. Much better options from the Perth side are available for the same price like David Wotherspoon and Ali McCann.
